Couldn’t believe my eyes. I mean, I had seen handstands before. But I wasn’t expecting it in a yoga class. At least that level of skill.
I didn’t know what kinda voodoo magic she was using to be able to do that. However, I was determined to figure it out.
The #1 Problem Beginners Face When Learning Handstands
The number one problem is that if you didn’t start learning handstands at a young age, it is hard to learn them as an adult.
Because your Nervous system doesn’t know WTF is going on!
You are putting your body in a foreign space. One it doesn’t have the proprioceptive awareness for it.
Not only that, but handstands require plenty of wrist flexibility. Plus, they are not exactly meant to hold your bodyweight. So you will need to improve wrist flexibility and allow for them to acclimate to the added stress.
All of this makes it even more difficult to learn handstand.
But I want you to know something. Learning handstands at any age is NOT impossible.
While I am often asked if I was a gymnast, that is not the case. I started learning handstands when I was 24. I am confident you can learn them, too.
It’s just a matter of your willingness to do the work. And trust in the process. The rest will follow.
